Protective Order Assistance Office
The Intake Officers will provide protective order forms to Petitioners, and will assist pro se victims with completing applications for protective orders where there are allegations of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault or Stalking (by a current or former intimate partner, current or former dating relationship, or current or former spouse); explain the Court process; provide American Sign Language or Foreign Language interpreters; assist in safety planning; provide referrals to Community Partners (and place calls for the victims, if requested); ensuring access for those with disabilities; provide information on prior and current legal actions, such as protection orders, battery charges, DV/SA/Stalking charges to the judicial officer hearing the request for a protection order; and qualifying children of victims for subsidized guardian ad litem services.

Safe Haven Baby Boxes mission is to prevent illegal abandonment of newborns by raising awareness, offering a 24-hour hotline for mothers in crisis and offering the Safe Haven Baby Boxes as a last resort option for women who want to maintain complete anonymity.
The Safe Haven Baby Box takes the face-to-face interaction out of the surrender and protects the mother from being seen. The Safe Haven Baby Boxes organization's primary goal is to raise awareness of the Safe Haven Law. Women in crisis can call the national 24-hour hotline and can receive counseling and assistance free of charge. To date, the hotline has received over 9,000 calls from every state in the United States. Safe Haven Baby Boxes has referred over 500 women to crisis pregnancy centers, assisted in 9 adoption referrals, and have had over 140 legal Safe Haven surrenders. Forty-Three babies have been surrendered in our Baby Boxes. Three babies were surrendered directly to firefighters at Safe Haven Baby Box locations.

- Known or suspected suicide deaths

- Deaths of an unidentified person
- Unknown cause of death of infants and children (In the State of Indiana, all deaths of children under the age of 3 must be autopsied if the Coroner is investigating)
- All unexpected deaths
- Natural deaths where no attending physician is present at the time of death
- All work-related deaths
- Death involving criminal action
Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office
The Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office is charged with the responsibility of representing the State of Indiana in all felony and misdemeanor criminal prosecutions resulting from crimes committed within Vanderburgh County, Indiana. In addition, the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office conducts criminal investigations, supervises Grand Jury proceedings, enforces child support orders entered in divorce and paternity cases, conducts juvenile adjudications and prosecutions, and provides information and assistance to the victims of crime.
